Ampeg 12R Reverocket from the 1960s. The electronics and pedal have been gone over and are functioning as designed. The components for the tremolo circuit have been updated including the tremolo roach. With time this circuit in many vintage amps can draw away output even when not in use. That issue was corrected by simply updating components. Several electrolytic caps were also updated, and should be consider routine maintenance for an amp from this era. The pots have been cleaned and are in good condition. There were two wear spots (not tears) in the speaker that were addressed with cotton, cellulose cloth. The 15” 4 ohm speaker is part of this amps charm and makes it sound bigger than it is . At present recone kits are not available, so whenever we have a Magnavox 15” we baby and remedy problems before they happen. There is minor wear to the case as would be expected for an amp of this age. Thus amps Tolex was resecured where needed and has been cleaned.
These amps have a classic sound of the period. Those that know, know they are on par with the fenders and Gibson amps from the era. The electronics are extremely well designed and executed. They are easily repaired when needed. The tremolo and reverb circuits are designed to be used, not too much not too little. These amps do sound good and both the tremolo and reverb on sonically usable and pleasant. These amps perform well beyond their price point.
