For your consideration a Gibson L1 1917. (circa).
The L1 is one of the first acoustics produced by Gibson in number. This warrior has all the dings of its 100 year plus existence. It has repaired body cracks, a very old neck repair, and replaced tuners. It’s been loved and played, the good one always are. With that said it’s been stabilized, plays great and is ready to be around another 100 years.
What a fun instrument to play.
Good instrument entice you to play from their era, This L1 is very comfortable to play, is quite loud without being “stringy” and clearly invokes a vintage sound of traditional American music. While it excels at accoustic blues, its made for old times American tunes. It strums and picks well. Many L1s have a tendency to feel (stiff, almost stuffy). not this guitar, it has great action and plays well over the fret board. We were searching for a good L1 to record, this guitar mics very well. But… it’s made for Sunday’s on the porch after church.
