For your consideration a Gretsch 6161 from 1962 sometimes refered to as the country gentleman amp in "player grade."

There are times when we shouldn't, but all amp guys just hate to see the classics go... This amp was brought to us by another broker for evalution and repair, it needed a new power transformer, new speakers (which are nolonger manufactured and for which there are no recone kits), along with filter caps and other work. In addition, the control panel was player grade from years of play. The case is in excellent condition (go figure). After the bad news, the other broker wanted to "part" the vintage amp. We made an offer to save the amp from being parted and set about making it a usable musical tool. It was truly "pro bono"...

The power transform was replaced, the tweeter is original but both Rollo 9X11" speakers were replaced by oval vintage 47 speakers, a major upgrade. New power cord, new filter caps, other caps and resistors.

While the amp has seen city miles, it really sounds great and is a joy to play through. Playing through a amp with multiply, range selected speaker does indeed separate the highs from the lows.

You can check Reverb this amp in very good condition will be $1000 more than we are asking. Our main concern is that this goes to someone who will play this amp and keep it alive.
