For your consideration 1968 Guild D28

The original 1968 write up is with photos.

BLUEGRASS SPECIAL D-50

• The perfect guitar for the bluegrass instrumentalist, because it combines outstanding clarity of tone with great depth and balance. Its impressive beauty equals its distinctive performance.

Similar to Model D-40 ......  but with rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard, and deluxe chromed Grover Rotomatic tuning machines.

Natural Spruce Top with Rosewood Back and Sides

It’s a rosewood boomer. Guild was producing top-of-the-line Hoboken-made guitars at a time when Martin and Gibson acoustics had lost a consistent equation. This is one of the premier guitars from the era! This guitar is in very good condition and all original with a beautiful balanced sound.

It has nice checking consistent with its 57 years. What makes it rather unusual is the sunburst finish since nearly all of these were natural. It has a three piece skunk stripe neck and as best as we can tell has not had a neck reset and doesn’t need one at this time. It has a small nick on the top (upon request we can drop fill). And a small scratch on the neck. Action at the 12th fret is 5.5/64 B and 4/64 on the T with no buzzing even when hitting big chords.

If you’re interested in the addition of a pickup our guitar tech can make that happen. We will recommend something none invasion and reversible on this beauty.

Hoboken Guilds are the sleeper vintage acoustic, but those in-the-know, know….
